The Association’s basic aim is to promote objective and open dialogue at national, regional and international level in order to achieve a coherent, consistent and effective Drug policy.

The aims of our organization are:
to promote objective and open dialogue at national, regional and international level in order to achieve a coherent, consistent and effective drug policy
to study the drug situation in Southeast Europe, with special reference to the specific geopolitical and cultural characteristics of the countries in the region
to develop national, regional and international cooperation, partnerships and networks for a more effective drug policy on supply and demand, public health protection and promotion of social security
to develop participatory social action of conscious and informed citizens with regard to the impact of drug use, address the problem with correct and honest information and support the implementation of prevention, treatment, harm reduction and rehabilitation programs
to identify and promote effective policies and practices in other countries or regions of the world, inform, sensitize and mobilize public opinion and public authorities (state and local government and the public sector in general) with the aim to tackle the negative effects of production, trafficking and drug use
to support regional cooperation and coordination between NGOs working in the field of drugs, promote and further develop and consolidate the Network of NGOs and create good relationships with experts, scientists and policy makers responsible for the drug policy in the countries of Southeast Europe
Diogenis tries to attain these aims through:
the close cooperation between NGOs and relevant government departments and agencies and scientific and research institutions at national, regional and international level
the coordination of a network of NGOs in South East Europe
the organisation of informal drug policy dialogues, seminars, workshops, conferences, open debates and lectures at national, regional and international level
the publication of reports, brochures and newsletters with analysis of problems related to drugs
the reactions /comments on relevant policy decisions and the submission of proposals to relevant authorities with the aim to improve and modernise the current drug control systemt
the set up of electronic files with scientific data and documentation, relevant publications and reports in order to inform stakeholders on issues related to drug policy
the participation in international organisations, European institutions, the UN and wider, national, regional and international associations of NGOs active in Drug policy
